What is Domaining?
You may or may not have heard the term before. So what is Domaining? In short the term Domaining is:
Domaining is the art and practice of Domain name speculation. By strategically identifying and registering or acquiring Internet domain names as an investment with the intent of selling or renting them later for a profit in some fashion.
The main object of domain name speculation are generic words or brand-able concepts which can be valuable for type-in traffic and/or enhanced ability to rank in organic search traffic for the dominant position on search pages. because they are descriptive in their nature.
Therefore generic words and phrases for public consumption such as poker, credit cards, travel, and many others are considered attractive targets of Domaining in any top-level domain AKA TLD.
Speculative Domain Name Registration characteristics are usually linked to news reports, trends or current events in a multitude of industries. Most of the time, the effective period for “Domaining” which such opportunities exist for it’s intended purposes may be limited. Quick resale of domains from the initial registration period is often called domain flipping.
