Backlinks for Career Sites That Search Engines Trust With Livelihoods

For job boards, resume and interview tools, career coaches, recruiters and staffing firms, and workplace publishers. We earn links from the people job seekers and employers already rely on, with original data at the centre of the plan.

“Our career outlets are HR publications, recruiters' blogs and careers writers with readers whose links carry weight.”

No obligation. Tell us what you sell and where, and a person replies.

  • Data over advice. Original hiring and salary findings earn career links that another listicle of interview tips never will.
  • Campus offices, done honestly. University career centres link to tools that help their students and are wary of scholarship schemes.
  • Trust on a money topic. Career pages affect people's income, so the outlets and the pages both have to hold up.

The best way to build "backlinks for Career Sites, but better yet, your career site" is to contact us directly. Advice about jobs, pay and hiring shapes people's income, and search engines are more careful about which career sites they trust than most site owners realise. The links that earn that trust come from the publications, associations and offices people already rely on.

Career content touches livelihoods, and search engines read it that way

Google's guidelines for its search quality raters give extra weight to topics that can affect a person's financial stability, and job searching, pay and career changes sit squarely in that territory. For career sites, the bar for trust is higher than it is for a hobby blog. The pages that rank tend to show who wrote them, why that person knows, and where the facts came from.

That changes the job a link has to do. A link from a respected HR publication or a professional association tells search engines that people who understand employment consider your page reliable. A link from a general blog that will publish anything about "career success" tells them very little.

  • Expert authorship. Career guides written or reviewed by recruiters, coaches or HR professionals, named on the page.
  • Sourced facts. Pay, hiring and labour figures attributed to where they came from.
  • Outlets employers read. Links from the publications that hiring managers, not only job seekers, trust.

Job boards, coaches, recruiters and publishers need different links

"Career site" covers several different businesses. Each kind competes in a different results page and draws links from a different crowd.

Career site Where it competes Where its links come from
Job board or niche job site Job title and location searches, the job listings panel Industry associations, communities in its specialism, data citations
Resume, cover letter and interview tools How-to and template searches Campus career centres, career bloggers, guides that recommend tools
Career coach Problem searches like changing careers Podcasts, professional groups, workplace writers
Recruiter or staffing firm Specialism and location searches Trade bodies, local business groups, client industry press
Workplace and HR publisher Employer and manager questions Other publishers, HR press, business media

Recruiters and staffing firms are service businesses at heart, and much of what we say about links for service based websites applies to them. Sites that cover careers alongside many other subjects face the issues on our page about backlinks for general information sites.

Original data earns career links that advice never will

Nearly every career site publishes interview tips, and very few publish numbers. Reporters, HR writers and career centres all need fresh figures they can attribute, and a site that supplies them gets quoted as a source instead of adding one more opinion.

Data a career site can produce

  • Platform data. What appears most in postings on your board, how long roles stay open, which locations are hiring in your specialism.
  • Surveys of your users. What job seekers say about interviews, offers, flexibility or switching fields.
  • Salary snapshots. Pay ranges from postings or user reports, published with a clear method and sample.
  • Annual reports. One recurring study that writers come to expect each year earns links year after year.

Pay and benefits content sits close to personal finance, where the standards are stricter still, and our page on finance site backlinks explains those rules. Whatever you publish, the method has to be stated plainly, because a career statistic that falls apart under a reporter's question does more harm to your reputation than the coverage was worth.

tell us what data your site already collects, and we will tell you which study would be most likely to earn press and HR links.

University career centres, approached honestly

Campus career offices publish resource pages for their students: tools for resumes, guides to professions, job search sites worth using. A link from one of those pages is relevant and trusted, and the students reading it are exactly the audience a career tool wants. It is also earned only by being genuinely useful.

What works is simple and slow: a tool students actually use, a guide to a profession advisers would recommend, a dataset that helps students compare paths. What does not work is the scholarship tactic, where a site creates a small award mainly to be listed on university pages. It became common enough that many campus offices now treat outside scholarship listings with suspicion. Our page on backlinks for education sites covers .edu outreach in more depth.

if your tool is aimed at students, we will tell you whether it is ready to pitch to career centres or what it needs first.

Expired listings, scraped jobs and advice farms

Career sites have their own ways to waste good links. A job board full of expired listings sends its hard-won authority into pages that no longer help anyone. Google's documentation for job posting markup asks sites to remove or update expired jobs, and job seekers who land on dead listings leave quickly.

Scraped job feeds are the second trap. A board that republishes the same listings as every other aggregator has thin pages, and links pointed at it prop up content search engines already see elsewhere. Then there are the career advice guest post farms: sites that publish any article on "success" or "productivity" for a fee and link out to anything. David's rule rules them out: no spammy sites, and nothing unrelated to the careers business we are building links for.

Anchors need the same care. Career anchors should mostly be your brand, your tool's name and plain descriptions of the page, with job titles and locations appearing because a writer used them. A profile where dozens of links say "best resume builder" reads as placed, and we keep it from drifting that way.

we can check how many expired or duplicate job pages your site exposes, and how much of your link authority is pooling there.

Why career sites still need links, whatever the year

The claim that links stopped counting comes round every year, and it has not been true in any of those years. Without some really good backlinks, a career site never appears in search, never ranks and is drowned out by the largest job sites in the world. Links are not the only factor, since expertise, freshness and how people respond all count, but they remain one of the clearest signals that a site deserves a look at all. That applies to Google and Bing, and to AI search tools like ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews, which build their career answers from sources the engines already trust.

Get Found has relationships with PR outlets, niche blog owners and influencers in careers and HR, along with careers sites whose readers are real and whose links count. You reach that large network of authors and outlets by working directly with a leading provider of Backlink Building Services, and every placement is checked so the profile can ride out Google's updates and any competitor who tries to sink it.

Our backlink building services set out the standard we hold in every niche, the Backlink Company page shows how a plan fits your budget, and the full set of niches and languages sits under our backlinks building service for every niche. When you are ready, start a conversation about your career site.

The questions that come up every time.

Why is it so hard for a new job board to rank?

Because the results are dominated by a handful of very large job sites with enormous link profiles, and Google also shows its own job listings panel drawn from structured data on job pages. A new board rarely wins broad searches like a job title alone. It can win a specialism, a region or a type of work if it is the best source for that corner of the market and earns links from the associations, publications and communities that serve it.

Are .edu backlinks still worth chasing for career sites?

Links from university career centres are worth having when they are earned, because the pages are read by students and trusted by search engines. They are earned by being useful: a resume tool students actually use, a guide to a profession the centre recommends, a salary dataset advisers can cite. Scholarship pages created mainly to collect .edu links are a well worn tactic that universities have grown wary of, and we do not use it.

What kind of content gets career sites linked by journalists?

Original data. How long hiring takes in a sector, how pay offers changed this year, what applicants say about remote work, which skills appear most in postings on your platform. Reporters and HR writers need fresh numbers they can attribute, and a career site with its own data is a source they come back to. Advice articles rarely get cited because every outlet writes its own.

Do backlinks matter for AI search in the careers niche?

Yes. People increasingly ask AI tools how to answer an interview question, what a role pays or how to change careers. The answers come from sources the engines already trust, and links are a major part of how that trust is judged. They are not the only signal, but a career site with no editorial links is seldom among the sources an AI answer names.

Should recruiters and staffing agencies build links differently from job boards?

Yes. A recruiter is a service business first. Its best links come from the industries it recruits for, local business groups, trade associations and the publications its clients read, and its target pages are its specialism and location pages. A job board's links come from job seekers' communities, career centres and data citations. The plans share principles but very few outlets.
