Submit a Press Release

A press release is a dated announcement about your business, written in the format a newsroom can actually run, distributed, and then given a permanent published page you can link to. Line 04 of our scorecard looks at the published mentions pointing at your business. This is how you create one on purpose.

“It’s a Big Internet. You’ve Got To Stand Out.”

Nothing is written up, distributed or charged for until you have read the final wording and approved it. Rather talk it through first? 1-323-505-6622

  • We write it, or we edit what you send. Your news in your own words — or a handful of bullet points and we put it into release format for you.
  • You see the wording and the price before you pay. The release is quoted after we have read it and approved by you before anything leaves this office.
  • The published release gets a permanent home. It is collected into the press release archive so you always have a dated page to point at.

CARD 01What it does for you

News about your business, on the record, with a date on it.

Most small businesses have nothing published about them anywhere except their own website. A press release is the one piece of marketing written to be published by somebody else — and that changes what it is worth to you and to a search engine.

  • It puts a dated announcement under your business name. A new location, a new service line, a hire, a certification, an event, an expansion, a milestone year — written up properly and put into the public record with a date on it.
  • It gives a buyer something to find that is not your own marketing. People check you out before they call. A published release is a page about your business rather than one more page you wrote about yourself.
  • It creates the kind of mention Line 04 of the card looks at. Published mentions, citation consistency and the pages pointing at your business are part of what the Authority & Citations line examines.
  • It is written to be picked up, not clicked on. Headline, dateline, body, boilerplate and a contact block, in the order an editor reads them. That is a different craft from writing a web page, and it is the part people get wrong on their own.
  • And it gives you something worth sharing. “Be Social. Be Exciting!” — a dated announcement is a better social post, newsletter item and sales-call opener than another discount.

UNSCORED

A release is not a score. It is one of the things this line of your card counts — so here is the line, blank, the way every number on this design stays until we have measured your own site.

What a release feeds into 0 OF 3 MEASURED
Published mentions of your business— / 100
Directory and citation consistency— / 100
Pages pointing at your website— / 100
Start my press release
No sample grade and no sample release appears anywhere on this page. The first number you see from us will be about you.
We can distribute a release. We cannot promise you coverage. A newsroom, an editor or a publisher decides whether to run your story, and nobody can sell you that decision — anyone who says they can is selling you something else. What we are answerable for is that the release is written properly, distributed, and given a permanent published home in our archive. Pick-up beyond that is earned by the news being worth running, which is exactly why the announcement itself matters more than the package.

Have an announcement already? Send it over and we will tell you straight whether it reads as news and what it takes to get it into release format.

CARD 02What’s included

Six things we do to your release.

Every item below is work carried out on your announcement. What is deliberately missing from this section is the commercial side of it — what it costs, whether there is more than one package, and which of these six items sits in which package. Those are yours to give us, and until you do they stay blank.

INCLUDED 01

Written or rewritten into release format

Send the news in your own words, or a handful of bullet points. We write the headline, the dateline, the body, the boilerplate and the contact block, in the order a newsroom reads them. Send finished copy and we edit rather than rewrite.

WRITING

INCLUDED 02

A headline an editor could actually run

Headlines are where self-written releases fall over: they read as adverts. We write one that states the news in plain words, and we keep your business name and your city in it where they belong rather than where they shout.

EDITORIAL

INCLUDED 03

Search-aware linking

The release points at the right page on your site, not just your home page, with anchor wording that matches the term you are trying to win. Which outbound links survive distribution varies by publisher, so we tell you what we expect before you approve.

SEO

INCLUDED 04

Your logo, photographs and video handled

Upload the artwork you have with the form and we prepare, caption and credit it for distribution. If you have nothing usable, say so on the form and we will tell you what would help the release rather than leave you guessing.

MEDIA

INCLUDED 05

An approval round before anything goes out

You read the final wording and sign it off. Nothing is distributed and nothing is charged until you have. If it is not right, you tell us what to change — how many rounds of that are included is one of the terms still to be set.

APPROVAL

INCLUDED 06

A permanent home in the archive

Once the release is published it is collected into our press release archive, so there is a dated page carrying your announcement that you can link to from your site, your email and your proposals.

ARCHIVE

Not included — and not yet decided

Not sold here at any price: coverage, placements, journalist introductions, or “guaranteed” pick-up. You will not find an outlet name, a media logo or a syndication figure anywhere on this page, because we would be claiming a relationship we have not shown you. Still to be decided and written in: how many packages there are, which of the six items above belongs to which package, how many revisions are included, the word limit per release, how much artwork can be attached, and the turnaround. Until those arrive, this section describes the work and stays silent on the terms.

Next step

Start the release and the quote comes back with it. You are not committing to a package by filling the form in — there is nothing to commit to until you have seen the price.

CARD 03How it works

Submit, approve and pay, distribute, published.

Four stages, six steps, and one rule running through all of them: you see the wording and the price before any money moves and before anything leaves this office.

Step by step — submit, pay, distribute, published
  1. You submit the announcementUse the form further down this page. A headline if you have one, the body or your bullet points, your company details, who to contact, any artwork, and the date you would like it to go out.
  2. We read it and come back to youWe tell you whether it reads as news, what is missing, and what this release costs. This is where you get the price, in writing, before you commit to anything.
  3. We write it into release formatHeadline, dateline, body, boilerplate, contact block and your links. If you sent finished copy we edit it rather than start again.
  4. You approve it and payYou read the final wording. Nothing is distributed until you have signed it off and the payment has gone through — in that order.
  5. It is distributedThe approved release goes out on the target date you asked for. Where it is then picked up is an editor’s decision, not a product anyone can sell you.
  6. It is published and lands in the archiveThe published release is collected into the press release archive so it has a permanent, dated, linkable home, and we send you the links.
No turnaround figure appears anywhere in this flow. How long step 02 takes, how long distribution takes, and how long before the published links come back are all unknown to us — so they are left blank rather than estimated, because an estimate printed on a product page becomes a promise. Give us the real timings and they go straight in.
Have this ready before you start

You can send the form without all of it — this is just what makes the first round fast.

The payment step can run on the rail the site already has. The live WordPress install carries a card and bank payment plugin and a press-release import client, so submit → pay → import the published release can be wired onto what is already installed rather than bolted on beside it.

Which payment rail, and what the checkout looks like, is your call. We have not assumed one, and no checkout screen is designed on this page until you say which rail the product runs on.
Next step

The form is the first step and the only one that needs you right now. Everything after it starts with us coming back to you.

CARD 04Price and terms

The price is blank, and that is deliberate.

This is a brand-new product and its commercial terms have not been set. Rather than print a plausible-looking number to make the mockup look finished, every commercial field on this page is left empty and itemised below. Fill this list in and the page is finished — no redesign needed.

Every field on this page that needs a number or a name from you

Fourteen items. Each one is a blank on the page above, not an oversight.

No price, tier, network name, outlet name, media logo, syndication count or turnaround figure appears anywhere on this page — not in the price card, not in the form, not in the small print and not as an “example”. The honesty gate on this build fails on any figure the live site does not support, and an invented price would be the worst kind of all: it reads as a commitment the business has never made, to a customer who then expects it. Send the real terms and every blank on this page fills in.
Next step

Until the rate card exists, pricing is quoted per release — after we have read what you are announcing, and always before you commit. Call and we will talk it through.

CARD 05The submission

Your press release submission.

Fill in as much as you have. Sending this form commits you to nothing: we read it, come back with the wording and the price, and only then is there anything to approve or pay for.

Submission — draft, not sent

Press release details

NOTHING SENDS UNTIL YOU APPROVE

The announcement

Leave it blank and we write it. Headlines are where most self-written releases fall over — you are not expected to supply one.

Send finished copy and we edit it. Send five bullet points and we write it. Either way you read the final wording before anything goes out.

The date you would like it to go out. We tell you whether it is achievable before you approve.

Optional — and the single thing most likely to get a release read rather than skimmed.

Your company

The specific page, not just the home page — the new location, the new service, the event. That is the page the link is worth something to.

No boilerplate yet? Leave it and we draft one from your site for you to approve.

Contact for this release

Artwork and media

Upload whatever you have. How many files, which formats and whether video is accepted are still to be confirmed — nothing is being rejected at this stage, and we will tell you if something cannot be used.

Before you send

This form is the design, not a live endpoint — in this preview it is not wired to anything. No price is shown on it, because the price is quoted after we have read your announcement, and the payment step sits between approval and distribution rather than here.
After you press send

Three things happen, in this order, and none of them costs you anything.

  • We read it. A person, not an autoresponder, reads the announcement and decides whether it reads as news.
  • You get the price and the plan. In writing, with what is missing from the submission spelled out.
  • You decide. Approve and pay, ask for changes, or walk away — there is no obligation created by this form.
Where it ends up

Every release we publish gets a permanent, dated page.

The archive is the public index of everything that has been distributed through us. It is what turns a one-day announcement into a page that is still there, still dated and still linkable, in two years’ time.

See the press release archive
This form needs a public email address to reply from, and none is published on the live site. Submissions, the quote, the approval round and the published links all have to come from somewhere a customer can reply to. We need that address, and the mailing address and hours — the same three gaps the contact page and the business schema are waiting on.
Next step

Would rather say it out loud than type it? Call and describe the announcement — we will tell you whether it is worth a release before you fill anything in.

Call 1-323-505-6622

CARD 06Where it lands

Every published release gets a permanent page.

Distribution puts the release out. The archive is what makes it stay. /press-releases/ is the public index of everything published through us, and it is where your release lives once it is out — dated, unedited and linkable.

Anatomy of a published release NO SAMPLE RELEASE SHOWN — NONE HAS BEEN PUBLISHED YET
Headline The news in one line, exactly as it was distributed. AS SENT
Company and dateline Your legal business name, the city the news came from, and the date it went out. DATED
Summary Two or three sentences, used on the archive index and as the search snippet. INDEXED
Body The full release as distributed. We do not quietly rewrite a release after it has gone out. VERBATIM
Quote and contact block Who said it, their title, and who a reader should contact about it. CONTACT
Links back to your site To the page you nominated on the submission form, not just your home page. LINKED
Media Your logo, photograph or video, captioned and credited as you supplied it. ASSETS

The archive is empty today, because the product is new and nothing has been distributed through it yet. It will not be filled with invented sample releases to make it look busy — no made-up company names, no fake datelines. The first entry in it will be a real one, and it could be yours.

Next step

Look at the archive as it stands, then decide whether you want the first dated page in it to be about your business.

CARD 07Questions

The questions people ask before they buy one.

Including the two we would rather answer here than in a sales call: what it costs, and whether we can promise you will end up in the news.

Will my business end up in the news?

We can write and distribute a release. Whether a newsroom, an editor or a publisher runs it is their decision, and nobody can sell you that decision — anyone who says they can is selling you something else. What you are buying is a properly written, properly distributed, permanently published announcement. The better the news, the better the odds, which is why we will tell you honestly if yours is thin.

What does it cost?

The price is quoted per release once we have read what you are announcing, and always before you pay. It is not printed on this page because the rate card has not been set yet, and we would rather show you an empty price box than a number nobody in this company has committed to.

Can you write it for me?

Yes, and most people ask us to. Send a few bullet points. The headline, dateline, body, boilerplate and contact block are our job. Release format is a craft of its own: it is written to be run by somebody else, not to be read on your own website, and that is the difference most self-written releases never cross.

Do I get a link back to my site?

The release links to the page you nominate, and our archive copy always carries that link. What a third-party publisher does with outbound links varies by publisher, so we tell you what we expect before you approve rather than promise something we do not control. Line 03 and Line 04 of your card both care about this.

How is this different from a blog post?

A blog post is published by you, on your site, about your own business. A release is written to a format somebody else can publish, carries a dateline, and creates the kind of outside mention the Authority & Citations line looks for. You want both — they do different jobs, and one does not replace the other.

What if I have nothing to announce?

Then wait, or call and talk it through. Plenty of real news gets overlooked by the business it happened to — a second location, a certification, a new hire, a new service line, a milestone year, a community sponsorship, a contract win. A release about nothing is a wasted release, and we will say so.

Next step

We take on your business as if it were our own. Send the announcement and we will come back with the wording and the price.
