Getting Found Online Strategies
Every guide we have published, in one place for the first time. Fifteen guides, 10,438 words, the oldest dated 27 January 2012 — and the newest dated 28 April 2018. We will say that out loud rather than bury it, because you can check it.

- Until now these guides had no hub. They were reachable only through category archives and the home-page feed, which is the main reason an aged library this old has been under-read.
- Every guide keeps the exact URL it has had since the day it was published. Nothing on this page is a new address for old writing.
- Fifteen thin tag and category archives that used to split this library between them now point here instead.

SHELF 01Browse the library
Four shelves, fifteen guides.
These are the real categories the guides have always been filed under. Three guides sit on two shelves at once, which is why the four counts add up to eighteen placements rather than fifteen titles.
Reading is free and always will be. If you would rather have us look at your site than read about it, the test is free too.
SHELF 02The honest part
Nothing here is dated 2026. Here is the whole record.
A library page that quietly hides its newest date is the oldest trick in content marketing, and anyone can check a publish date in two seconds. So this is every year since the domain started publishing, counted, with the empty years left empty.
Three reasons, none of them flattering, all of them true.
- Guides published 2012–201815
- Guides published 2019–20260
- Years since the newest guide8.5
- Guides whose URL changes0
One: the work went to clients instead of to the blog, which is a real thing that
happens to an agency and not something to be coy about.
Two: we score other people’s
sites on freshness, so we are not going to pretend ours is fresh.
Three: the dates are the
asset. Fourteen years of accumulated history is why these pages still rank at all, and you only get to
keep that by leaving the original dates where they are.
When a guide is brought up to date it keeps its URL and its original publish date, and gains a visible “reviewed” note. We are not going to re-stamp a 2015 guide as 2026 to make the library look busy — that is the move that destroys the only thing this domain has that a new one cannot buy.
Needed from David before this page can go live: a publishing cadence. A hub that admits an eight-year gap is credible exactly once. It stops being credible the moment it is still saying the same thing a year later. One guide a month, one a quarter, or an explicit “the library is an archive and we are not adding to it” — any of the three is defensible, but the page needs to know which.
The tidiest piece of this library is the glossary cluster — seven guides that answer one plain question each. That is where a reader who is learning rather than buying should start.
SHELF 03Featured cluster
What Does The Term Mean
Seven guides, 3,520 words, written for the business owner on the other side of a conversation with a developer. No pitch in any of them. This is the cluster with the best ratio of effort to result on the whole site: the URLs already exist, the subjects do not go out of date, and each one answers a question people genuinely type.

The cluster still has no centre
Seven definitions, no glossary page binding them together — so each one has to rank entirely on its own, and the five short ones are too thin to do it. A single A–Z glossary hub, every term linking down to its own guide and back up, is the one structural change that makes the whole cluster work.
Bars show each guide’s length today against the 600-word depth target set in the content plan for this cluster. Two of the seven are already well past it; the five written in December 2014 are the ones to expand. The word counts are counted from the live pages, not estimated.
If the jargon is the problem, start at the top of this shelf. If the jargon is not the problem and the rankings are, the free test is the faster route.
SHELF 04The biggest shelf
SEO
Seven guides, 5,150 words, running from the oldest thing on this domain to the newest. They answer the four questions we are actually asked: is SEO worth it, how do I rank, how do I get on Google at all, and how do I tell a real SEO company from a bad one. Longest first.
Two guides on this shelf are marked “fact pass needed” and the reason is specific. Google’s business listing product has been renamed and rebuilt since February 2015, and Wix in 2026 is a materially different product from Wix in 2015. Both guides were accurate when written. Refreshing a guide while leaving a stale claim inside it is worse than leaving the guide alone — so neither gets republished until someone has checked every factual claim in it line by line. This page shows the status; it does not assert that the guides are currently correct.
“It’s a Big Internet. You’ve Got To Stand Out.” The guides tell you what to look at. The card tells you where your own site stands.
SHELF 05The long reads
Online Marketing, and Selling My Product Online
Four guides between the two shelves — but only three titles, because Ebay vs Amazon Selling is filed on both, and Search Marketer and Domain Name Investing are also on the glossary shelf. These are the longest things in the library and two of them are transcripts of David talking to camera, which is why they read the way they do.
Selling on a marketplace and being found on your own site are two different jobs, and most businesses need both. We can tell you which one is costing you more.
SHELF 06What happens next
The rebuild queue, in the order it gets done.
This is not a content calendar for new writing. It is the order in which the fifteen existing guides get brought up to standard, because expanding what already has history beats publishing something with none.
- The glossary cluster firstSeven URLs that already exist, five of them under 300 words, on subjects that do not go stale. Expand each toward 600 words and build the A–Z hub that binds them. Best ratio of work to result on the site.
- Then the four long SEO guidesEach one over 850 words already, each one answering a question with real commercial intent. These get a line-by-line fact pass before anything else happens to them.
- Then the two thin SEO piecesFinding The Right Search Marketer (229 w) and How to Rank Your Business Higher in Google (455 w) overlap the longer guides. They get expanded and cross-linked, not deleted — a 2014 URL is worth more than a tidy structure.
- The 2012 guide stays alive on purposePutting All Your Search Eggs in One Basket is the oldest thing on the domain. The body gets refreshed. The URL and the January 2012 date do not move.
- Recategorise before anything is retiredGetting My Business On Google is currently filed under both SEO and “Uncategorized”. That has to be fixed before the Uncategorized archive is retired, or the guide loses a parent on the way through.
Counted from the live site, not projected.
- Keep as is4
- Expand8
- Fact pass needed first3
- URLs changing0
“Fact pass needed” is a blocker, not a note. Getting My Business On Google, Is Wix Good For SEO and Ebay vs Amazon Selling all make claims that were true on the day they were written. None of the three gets touched until those claims have been checked.
The live site also carries three category archives with zero posts in them — Design, Themes and WordPress. They are leftovers from the 2012 install. They should be removed or no-indexed rather than quietly inherited into the rebuild.
Two things this template cannot fill in by itself. Bylines: only two of the fifteen guides identify their author in the text — Ebay vs Amazon Selling and Domain Name Investing both open with David Scarpitta speaking. The other thirteen carry no byline we can verify, so this page prints none. Confirm who wrote what before any guide gets an author box. Images: several guides refer to artwork that is part of the argument — “like that egg on the left”, “If you look at the above image”. Those files are on the 2012–2018 install and are not carried into this preview. They need recovering, or the sentences that point at them need rewriting.
Your business is the one we want to work on. If you would rather we applied this to your site than to our own library, that is the whole point of the card.
