Backlinks for Auto Sites That Win Make, Model and Town Searches

For dealerships, repair and body shops, parts and accessories stores and motoring publishers. We build links from the places drivers and enthusiasts actually read, matched to the vehicles, services and towns you want to rank for.

“Our auto outlets are owners' clubs, motoring writers and enthusiast blogs whose readers actually drive and buy.”

No obligation. Tell us what you sell and where, and a person replies.

  • Built around the vehicle. Links point at the make, model and fitment pages buyers search for. An inventory feed that changes weekly is a poor target.
  • Local where it counts. Dealers and shops need links from their own town as much as from car sites.
  • No expired-domain networks. Old car blogs rebuilt to sell links are the most common trap in this niche, and we do not use them.

Start here.

The best way to build "backlinks for Auto Sites, but better yet, your auto site" is to contact us directly. Drivers search by make, model, repair and town, and an auto site ranks when the pages answering those searches carry links from places drivers trust: owners' clubs, motoring writers, local press and the enthusiasts who know the cars better than anyone.

Four kinds of auto site, four different link problems

"Auto" covers businesses that barely compete with each other. A dealership, a brake shop, an online parts store and a car review blog all sit in the same niche on paper and need different links in practice.

Auto business What its search results reward Where its best links come from
Dealership Local relevance, model pages, reviews Local news, community events, owners' clubs, motoring writers
Repair, body or detailing shop Map results, service pages, trust Local organisations, car clubs, trade bodies, how-to writers
Parts and accessories store Fitment detail, product depth Enthusiast blogs, build threads, video creators with blogs
Motoring publisher or blog Expertise, original testing, freshness Other publishers, press offices, specialist writers

We plan the outlets around which row you are in. A parts store chasing local news coverage wastes its budget; a body shop chasing national car blogs wastes its own. Plenty of businesses straddle two rows, a dealer with a service department being the usual case, and then the plan has two halves.

Car buyers search by vehicle and by town

Auto searches are specific. People type a model year and trim, a fault code, a part number or "near me". The pages that rank for those searches are deep pages, and deep pages need links of their own. The authority that trickles down from the home page rarely carries them alone.

For dealers and shops the results page is split. A map pack sits at the top, organic results below it, and for many questions an AI Overview above both. The map results lean on your Google Business Profile, reviews and proximity. The organic results and the AI answers lean much more on your website's authority, and that is where links decide who shows. A shop that dominates the map and has no links often vanishes the moment the searcher scrolls. If the map side is your bigger gap, our page on local business backlinks and Google Maps links covers it in detail.

  • Model and trim pages for dealers, linked from reviews, comparison pieces and owners' clubs.
  • Service pages by repair for shops, linked from local guides and how-to writers.
  • Fitment pages for parts stores, linked from build threads and enthusiast blogs.

if your shop shows on the map and nowhere else, a short look at your links will usually explain the gap.

Where the auto web links from

Auto has some of the most loyal communities online. People spend years in a model's owners' club or a build forum. The links that count come from inside those communities, and from the writers who serve them.

  • Owners' clubs and marque registers. Club sites link to specialists, parts sources and events that help their members.
  • Track days, shows and meets. Organisers list sponsors and partners, and event write-ups link to the businesses that took part. Sponsorship links should carry the sponsored attribute, and we set them up that way.
  • Motoring writers and review blogs. Independent testers who cite workshops, data and expert opinion.
  • Video creators with a written site. Many car channels publish show notes or articles, and those pages link to sources.
  • Aftermarket and trade publications. Industry press for parts sellers, tuners and repairers.
  • Local news and community sites. For dealers and shops, a story about your apprenticeship scheme or a charity drive is worth more than a car blog in another country.

This is the network Get Found puts to work for you: authors and outlets with real traffic, approached by people who know the cars. Motorsport content in particular crosses into sports publishing and its link outlets, and we treat it that way.

Next step

send us your top three competitors and we will show you which of these outlet types link to them and not to you.

Earn links to fitment guides, not to your inventory feed

Inventory pages come and go. A used car listing can be gone in a week, and any link pointing at it ends on a dead page or a redirect. The auto pages that earn and keep links are the ones that stay useful for years.

Pages worth building links toward

  • Fitment and compatibility tables. Which part fits which model years, with the exceptions spelled out. Forums link these constantly.
  • Maintenance schedules by model. What is due and when, written from your workshop's records.
  • Known-fault buying guides. What to check on a used example of a model, with photographs. Honest guides earn links from owners' groups.
  • Repair explainers. What a timing belt job or a clutch replacement involves, from people who do it every day.
  • Model hubs for dealers. One evergreen page per model you sell, that inventory pages link into.

Anchor text that names the vehicle

Auto anchors should look like the way drivers talk: a make and model, a repair, a business name, a town. A natural profile reads like "the timing chain guide on their site" or the shop's name, with model names appearing because writers used them. A profile where dozens of links say "best used cars for sale" reads as placed. We track anchors per page so no money phrase starts to dominate.

Ask us

we will look at your site and tell you which two or three pages would earn links fastest if they were pitched to the right clubs and writers.

Expired car domains and dealer microsite networks are a trap

Auto has a specific problem: a large supply of old car blogs and club sites that have lapsed, been bought at auction and rebuilt to sell links. They keep a little of their old authority and a lot of their old backlinks, and on paper their metrics look appealing. In practice the content is thin, the outbound links point at every niche, and search engines have been discounting this pattern for years.

Dealer groups have a version of their own: networks of microsites, one per brand or town, all linking to each other. A few legitimate sites under one group are normal. Dozens of near-identical sites built for links are a scheme.

Then there is safety. Content about recalls, brakes, tyres or airbags is close to the topics search engines treat with extra care, because wrong advice can hurt someone. Links pointing at a page that gives unsafe advice do not rescue it. We check the target page before we build toward it.

This is why David's rule for auto links is to stay off spammy sites and anything unrelated to cars, and why the goal is a profile that holds up through Google's updates and against competitors who try to sabotage it. Our backlink building services set out the same standard for every niche.

Why links still decide which dealers and shops get considered

Some people have been saying for years that links stopped mattering, and it has not been true in any of those years: backlinks still count no matter the date. Without some really good ones, an auto site will never pop up in search, will not rank and will be drowned out by the competition, which in this niche includes national marketplaces with enormous authority.

Links are not the only factor. Reviews, page speed, accurate inventory and real expertise all count. Still, links are a major indicator that a site deserves a search engine's attention at all, and that holds for AI search as much as for Google and Bing. When a driver asks ChatGPT search, Perplexity or an AI Overview what a repair should involve or which model year to avoid, the answer is drawn from pages the engines already trust.

Call

if a national marketplace outranks you for your own models in your own town, ask us what links it would take to close that gap.

The questions that come up every time.

Do car dealerships still need backlinks if they have a Google Business Profile?

Yes. The profile gets you into the map results, but the organic results below it and the AI answers above it still weigh the authority of your website. A dealer with a strong profile and a weak site often shows on the map and nowhere else. Links from local news, community events, owners' clubs and motoring writers give the site the standing to rank for model and service searches as well.

What kind of auto page earns the most links?

Pages that answer a question other sites keep getting asked. Fitment and compatibility tables, maintenance schedules by model, honest buying guides for used models with known faults, and explainers on a repair with real photographs from your own workshop. Forums and owners' groups link to pages like these because they save them typing the same answer again. Inventory pages rarely earn links because they change too often.

Are links from car forums worth anything?

Most forum links carry the nofollow or ugc attribute, so they pass little ranking credit directly. They still matter. They send buyers who are deep into a purchase, they show search engines that real enthusiasts reference you, and the threads themselves are read by AI search tools. We treat forums as a place to be useful and cited, not as a place to drop links, which gets accounts banned fast.

Is it safe to buy links on auto blogs?

Buying followed links to manipulate rankings is against Google's spam policies in every niche, and auto has a large number of blogs that exist only to sell them, many built on expired car domains. We work through editorial relationships, where a writer links because the page is worth citing. Where money changes hands, such as an event sponsorship, the link should be marked sponsored.

Do backlinks matter for AI search in the auto niche?

They do. When someone asks an AI tool which used model to avoid or what a repair involves, the answer is built from pages the engines already trust, and links remain one of the major signals behind it. Reviews and expertise count too, yet an auto site with no editorial links is unlikely to be among the sources quoted.
