Latvian Backlinks for Sites That Want to Rank in Latvia
For businesses selling to Latvian readers in Riga, Liepāja and Daugavpils, and to Latvians abroad. We write in correct Latvian with every diacritic in place, place articles on outlets Latvian readers follow, and plan a separate profile when your site also serves Latvia's Russian speakers.
“Latvian pages rank on links from Latvian publishers that Latvian readers actually open.”
No obligation. Tell us what you sell and where, and a person replies.
- Correct Latvian, marks and all. Eleven letters with diacritics, nouns that change case and foreign names spelled the Latvian way.
- Latvian and Russian kept apart. Two audiences in one country, each with its own pages, outlets and links.
- Outlets read in Latvia. National news, regional portals, niche blogs and directories, not a Baltic bundle read somewhere else.

Latvia is a small, well-connected market with its own language, a large Russian-speaking minority and a growing community abroad. The best way to build "Latvian backlinks, but better yet, backlinks for your Latvian-language site" is to contact us directly. Every Latvian site has to settle one question before a single link is planned: which language is this page for?

Two audiences in one country
Latvian is Latvia's only state language, and public-facing business information is expected to be available in it. A business that sells in Latvia without a proper Latvian site is missing the language most of its customers expect to be served in. At the same time, Latvia has a large Russian-speaking minority, concentrated in Riga and in Latgale in the east, where Daugavpils is largely Russian-speaking.
Many Latvian businesses therefore run two versions: Latvian first, Russian alongside. That is a sound setup, as long as each version is treated as its own market.
- A Latvian version written in correct Latvian, with links from Latvian-language outlets.
- A Russian version where your buyers need one, with links from Russian-language outlets based in Latvia.
- hreflang that separates them, using lv-LV and ru-LV, so Google shows each version to the right reader.
tell us who your buyers are, and we will tell you whether you need one profile or two.

Russian-language links: from Latvia, not from Russia
The tempting shortcut is to buy Russian-language links wherever they are cheapest, which usually means sites in Russia. Those links point at the wrong country. Google reads a site in Russia as evidence that readers in Russia know you, which says nothing about Riga. Several Russian media sites are also blocked in Latvia, and a link from a site your buyers cannot open is worth very little to them or to you.
The Russian-language links that help are on outlets based in Latvia, written for people who live there, by writers who know local Russian usage, including the Latvian place names, institutions and loanwords that creep into it.
send us your current Russian-language links, and we will tell you how many come from sites read in Latvia.

Eleven marked letters, and the habit of leaving them out
Latvian uses eleven letters with diacritics: long vowels marked with a bar, ā, ē, ī and ū, and the consonants č, ģ, ķ, ļ, ņ, š and ž. They matter: dropping them makes text look careless, and in some words it changes the meaning.
Searchers do not always type them. People on foreign keyboards and in a hurry leave them out, and an informal habit from the early web, still seen in older forums and quick messages, writes long vowels as doubled letters and š as sh. Keyword research covers the forms people actually type, while your pages and the articles we place use correct Latvian throughout.
Slugs and addresses
Most Latvian sites write slugs without diacritics, so addresses survive being shared in messages and documents. Pick one rule and apply it to every page. A site that keeps the marks on some slugs and drops them on others sees its links scattered across two spellings of the same page.
ask us to review your Latvian text, slugs and hreflang before links are placed, so each link lands on a page that reads as properly Latvian.

Foreign names grow Latvian endings
Latvian adapts foreign names to its own spelling and grammar. A famous example: an American president's name becomes Džordžs Bušs, spelled as it sounds and given a Latvian ending. Nouns also change form across Latvian's cases, so a product named in a sentence will not always appear in its dictionary form.
Translated anchors are easy to spot in Latvian. A link that forces an English product name, or the nominative case, into the middle of a Latvian sentence reads as foreign. Native Latvian writers wrap links around natural phrases in whatever case the sentence needs, and they handle your brand name the way Latvian publications do. Company names usually keep their original form, while the words around them change, and we agree that convention with you before anything is published.
send us your product and brand names, and we will show you how Latvian writers would cite them.

Backlinks still count in Riga
Google is the search engine Latvians use, and its Latvian results respond to the same signals as anywhere. Backlinks still matter no matter the date. Pages need useful content, quick loading on a phone and sensible structure, and we review those too. Without some really good backlinks, though, a Latvian page will never pop up in search, will not rank and will be drowned out by the competition. Links are not the only factor. They are still a major indicator that a website should even be looked at, whether the one looking is Google or an AI assistant assembling an answer from a short list of cited sources.
We see one failure in Latvia more than any other: a translated page with only English links behind it. An international company adds Latvian pages to a strong English domain. No Latvian site mentions them, every anchor is in English, and Latvian competitors with Latvian citations keep the top places. In a small market, a modest set of well-chosen Latvian links can change that picture faster than the same work would in a large one.
if your Latvian pages are live but stuck, we will count the Latvian links behind them and plan the first set.

The Baltics are three markets, not one
Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are often sold as one Baltic package. Each country has its own language and its own media, and Google gives each one its own results. Lithuanian is a related Baltic language but not one Latvians read with ease; Estonian belongs to the same family as Finnish. A Latvian page supported by Lithuanian and Estonian portals tells Google those countries know you, not Latvia. Our Estonian backlinks page and our Finnish link building cover the northern neighbours in their own right.
Eastern Latvia adds one more detail: Latgalian, a written variety used in the east alongside standard Latvian. Standard Latvian is the right choice for almost every commercial page, but writers who know Latgale know its towns, its readers and its regional outlets.
if you sell across the Baltics, we will plan a separate set of outlets for each country.

Latvian outlets, native writers and how we work
Spam sites and outlets unrelated to your field are left out. We rely on press contacts, niche blog owners, influencers and sites with real Latvian visitors, and in Latvia that means national news sites in Latvian and in Russian; regional portals for Riga, Liepāja, Jelgava, Ventspils, Valmiera and Daugavpils; niche Latvian blogs on food, parenting, technology, finance and travel; and business directories and associations.
Latvians abroad, in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and Scandinavia, read Latvian community sites and diaspora news, which suit travel, property, legal and remittance businesses. We plan them as a separate audience when they matter to your sales.
Our Baltic writers and outlets are open to you without a middleman, because building links is the work Get Found is known for. A campaign begins with the pages already ranking for your Latvian searches and the sites citing them; from there we settle topics with you, brief Latvian authors and match each article to an outlet whose readers fit, so the Latvian profile can withstand Google's algorithm changes and any competitor trying to damage it. If you also sell north of the Baltic Sea, see our Swedish backlinks. Our link building across languages and niches, the budget-led backlink company page and the Backlink Building Services section cover everything else, and you can contact us about your Latvian site once you have your target searches in hand.

What we would measure for your business.
The parts of this page we will not guess at.
The live site has never published a price for anything. Rather than invent a plausible-looking number, each item is here and blank until it is set.

The questions that come up every time.
Do backlinks still matter for Latvian websites?
Yes. Links are not the only thing Google weighs, but they remain one of the strongest signs that a page is worth showing, and AI search tools use the same evidence when they choose sources to quote. Latvia is a small market, so many searches have only a few well-linked competitors, and relevant Latvian links can lift a page into that group.
Should my site have a Russian version for Latvia?
Often, yes, if your buyers include Latvia's Russian speakers, especially in Riga and Latgale. It should sit alongside a full Latvian version, not replace it, because Latvian is the state language and many customers expect it. Each version then needs its own links: Latvian outlets for the Latvian pages, Russian-language Latvian outlets for the Russian ones.
Can links from Russian sites help my Russian-language Latvian pages?
Not in the way you want. Sites in Russia point at an audience in Russia, so they tell Google the wrong country. Several Russian media sites are also blocked in Latvia. The Russian-language links that help are from outlets based in Latvia and read by people living there.
Is a .lv domain needed to rank in Latvia?
It helps but is not required. A .lv address is familiar to Latvian buyers and tells Google the site is aimed at Latvia. A .com with Latvian pages can rank as well, provided hreflang is correct, prices are in euros, the business details are Latvian and the links come from Latvian sites.
Can Lithuanian or Estonian links help my Latvian pages?
A little, for the domain, and they are the right links for Lithuanian or Estonian versions of your site. For Latvian pages they are a weak match. Lithuanian is a related Baltic language but not one Latvians read easily, and Estonian belongs to another language family altogether. Each country has its own media and its own search results.
Who writes the Latvian articles?
Native Latvian writers who use full diacritics, correct cases and the register of each outlet, from business news to a casual lifestyle blog. Latvian editors reject machine-translated text quickly, and in a small market a poor pitch is remembered. Russian-language articles for Latvian outlets are written by native Russian speakers who live in Latvia and know its usage.
Ask yours. The form reaches the people who would be doing the work.
