Catalan Backlinks for Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearics and Andorra
For businesses selling in the Catalan-speaking territories, where most buyers read both Catalan and Spanish. We build a Catalan profile separate from your Spanish one, place native-written articles on outlets people read in Catalan, and treat .cat as the real cultural domain it is.
“We reject poor and spammy websites unrelated to your product or service.”
No obligation. Tell us what you sell and where, and a person replies.
- Catalan and Spanish, built apart. Your readers are bilingual, but each language gets its own page, its own keyword research and its own links.
- Four territories, one language. Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands and Andorra each have their own outlets and sensitivities.
- .cat taken seriously. A domain for a language and culture, and a useful signal when it is used for real Catalan content.

In the Catalan-speaking territories almost everyone reads Spanish, and that leads many businesses to treat Catalan as optional. The best way to build "Catalan backlinks, but better yet, backlinks for your Catalan-language site" is to contact us directly. Catalan deserves its own links, built on Catalan outlets and pointed at Catalan pages.

Bilingual readers still search in one language at a time
Most people in Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearics read both Catalan and Spanish. But a search is typed in one language, and the results come back in that language. Someone who searches in Catalan gets Catalan pages first. Catalan is the main language of schooling and public administration in Catalonia, the everyday language of a large part of the population, and the only official language of Andorra, so a great many searches are typed in it.
That makes Catalan and Spanish two separate jobs:
- Separate pages. A Catalan page and a Spanish page, each written natively rather than one machine-translated from the other.
- Separate links. Catalan outlets for the Catalan page, Spanish outlets for the Spanish one. Our Spanish backlinks page covers the second.
- Hreflang that joins them. ca and es, with regions where useful, each page listing the other, so search engines send each searcher to the right version.
tell us how your buyers split between Catalan and Spanish, and we will tell you where to start.

Why links still matter in Catalan search
The claim that backlinks are over comes round about once a year, and each time the answer is the same: backlinks still matter no matter the date. Speed, content and how a Catalan site is organised also count, and we review all three. But without some really good backlinks, a Catalan page will never pop up in search, will not rank and will be drowned out by the competition. Links remain a major indicator that a page should even be looked at by search engines and by AI search: Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Copilot all draw on pages that other sites cite.
The size of the field works in your favour. A Spanish page competes with pages from across the Spanish-speaking world; a Catalan page competes with far fewer. A handful of relevant Catalan links can move it a long way.
send us the Catalan searches that matter to you, and we will show you which Catalan sites link to the pages ranking for them.

.cat: a domain for a language, not a country
Most domains belong to a country. .cat was created for the Catalan linguistic and cultural community, one of the first top-level domains of its kind, and registrants are expected to show a real connection to Catalan language or culture. Many Catalan institutions, media and businesses use it.
For your own site, a .cat address tells Catalan readers you take the language seriously. Search engines treat it as a generic domain rather than a country one, so it does not target a region by itself; hreflang and Search Console settings do that. For links, .cat sites with real Catalan content and readers are a natural fit, but as always we judge the outlet by its readers before its domain ending. Many good Catalan outlets sit on .com or .es addresses.
if you are weighing a .cat domain or a Catalan section on your existing site, we can set out the trade-offs for your business.

Four territories, and the name Valencians prefer
Catalan is spoken across Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands and Andorra, with smaller communities in Northern Catalonia in France, the eastern fringe of Aragon and the town of L'Alguer in Sardinia. Each territory has its own media, its own regional identity and its own preferred forms.
Valencia is the case to handle with care. There the language is officially called Valencian, it has its own language academy, and many people prefer that name and some forms of spelling and vocabulary that go with it. Linguists treat it as the same language, but a page or an article aimed at Valencia should read as Valencian. There is no separate hreflang code for it, so Valencian pages are tagged ca, and the writing and the links do the work of showing who they are for.
tell us which territories you sell in, and we will plan outlets and writers for each one rather than for Barcelona alone.

À, ç and the punt volat
Catalan uses accented vowels in both directions (à, è, é, í, ò, ó, ú), the diaeresis (ï, ü), the ç, and a character no other major language has: the punt volat, the raised dot in l·l, as in col·lecció. Pages that drop or mangle these look careless to native readers.
URLs need one rule. Most sites strip accents in addresses, turning à into a and ç into c, and handle l·l as l-l or ll. Any of those can work if it is used everywhere. What hurts is a site that mixes them, so links point at several versions of the same page. We settle one rule and make sure every link we build points at the address that will stay.
we can check how your Catalan URLs and anchors handle accents and the l·l before we build links to them.

The Catalan outlets with real readers
Catalan has a full media world of its own. We look for outlets with editors and readers:
- Catalan-language national media. Newspapers, broadcasters' sites and digital outlets published in Catalan, where expert articles and features earn a place.
- Regional and county news. Girona, Lleida, Tarragona, the Valencian cities, Mallorca, Menorca, Eivissa and Andorra, read by the customers a local business needs.
- Niche blogs. Catalan writers on food and wine, hiking, culture, family, technology and business.
- Cultural and community sites. Associations, festivals and local organisations, many on .cat.
- Directories. Catalan business listings that confirm your name, location and service.
Get Found has a large network of authors and outlets, and every placement goes through one test: we reject poor and spammy websites unrelated to your product or service. Our relationships are with Catalan PR outlets, the owners of niche Catalan blogs, influencers, and sites with genuine readers that pass on real authority.
And the translated-site problem applies here as much as anywhere. A Catalan section machine-translated from Spanish, with only English or Spanish links behind it, reads to search engines as a copy nobody local cares about. A Catalan page written by a native author and cited by Catalan outlets gives search engines a reason to treat it as part of the Catalan web and rank it alongside other Catalan pages.

How we work on Catalan links
We map who ranks for your Catalan searches and who links to them, agree topics, and pair each topic with an outlet whose readers care, with a native writer from the right territory. Every link sits inside an article worth reading for itself, so the profile can last through Google updates and resist bad-faith attacks from competitors. You get that level of care on Catalan work by dealing directly with a leading provider of Backlink Building Services.
If you also sell across the border, the French link building page covers Northern Catalonia's wider market, and our backlinks for Italian-language sites and the Portuguese backlinks page cover the rest of the region. Our backlink building services overview explains the category, the company page on matching links to your budget covers planning, and the niche and language link service lists the rest. When you are ready, contact us with your site and the Catalan searches you care about.

The questions that come up every time.
If everyone in Catalonia reads Spanish, why build Catalan links?
Because many people search in Catalan, and Google answers Catalan searches with Catalan pages. Catalan is the everyday language of a large part of the population, the main language of schooling and public administration in Catalonia, and the only official language of Andorra. A Spanish page competes in Spanish results across the whole Spanish-speaking world; a Catalan page competes in a smaller field where relevant Catalan links make a visible difference.
Is a .cat domain good for SEO?
.cat is a top-level domain for the Catalan linguistic and cultural community, and registrants are expected to have a real connection to it. Search engines treat it as a generic domain rather than a country one, so it does not geotarget on its own. Its value is as a clear signal to readers, and as a home for Catalan content. For links, a Catalan-language .cat site with real readers is a natural fit.
Is Valencian different from Catalan for link building?
Valencian is the name used in the Valencian Community, with its own language academy and some preferred forms of spelling and vocabulary. Linguists treat it as the same language, but many Valencians prefer their own name for it, and outlets there write in Valencian norms. A page aimed at Valencia should respect that, and links for it should come from Valencian outlets.
Do backlinks still matter for Catalan SEO?
Yes. They are not the only factor, since content, speed and structure count too, but they remain one of the strongest signals search engines and AI answer tools use to decide which pages deserve attention. In Catalan results there are fewer well-linked competitors than in Spanish ones, so relevant Catalan links can move a page further than Spanish links could.
Can Spanish backlinks help my Catalan pages?
They help the domain, and they are the right links for your Spanish pages. For the Catalan pages they are a weak match, because the language and the anchors do not fit. We build both profiles where you need both, from sites in each language.
Who writes the Catalan articles?
Native Catalan writers, matched to the territory and the outlet: Central Catalan for most Barcelona media, Valencian norms for Valencian outlets, Balearic forms where they fit. Text machine-translated from Spanish is easy to spot and editors reject it. Each Catalan article has to deserve its place on the outlet even without the link.
Ask yours. The form reaches the people who would be doing the work.
