Chinese Backlinks for Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong
For businesses selling to Chinese readers, whether they search on Baidu behind the firewall or on Google in Taipei, Hong Kong and Singapore. We pick the region first, then the script, the engine and the outlets, and commission native writers for each.
“We avoid spammy or poor sites that do not relate to what you sell.”
No obligation. Tell us what you sell and where, and a person replies.
- One language, several markets. Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong differ in script, vocabulary, search engine and outlets.
- Baidu or Google, chosen on purpose. Links that help on Baidu are not always the ones that help on Google, and the plan says which is which.
- The firewall planned for from the start. Hosting, blocked resources and blocked outlets are checked before a single link is placed.

Chinese is one written language read in several markets that search in different places and in different scripts. The best way to build "Chinese backlinks, but better yet, backlinks for your Chinese-language site" is to contact us directly. Before any link is placed, we answer one question with you: which Chinese reader is this page for?

Three Chinese markets, three different search habits
Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong share a written language and little else that matters for search. They use different scripts, different everyday vocabulary, different outlets and, in the mainland's case, a different search engine.
| Market | Script | Main search engine | Country domain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mainland China | Simplified | Baidu, with Bing and smaller local engines | .cn |
| Taiwan | Traditional | .tw | |
| Hong Kong | Traditional, with Cantonese usage | .hk | |
| Singapore and Malaysia | Simplified | .sg and .my |
A link plan that treats these as one market helps none of them properly. A mainland buyer and a Taipei buyer use different characters and different words, and often a different search engine. Each needs pages written for them and links from sites they read.
tell us which Chinese-speaking regions you sell in, and we will tell you how many separate link plans that means.

Simplified, Traditional and the vocabulary underneath
Simplified characters are standard in the mainland, Singapore and Malaysia. Traditional characters are used in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Software can convert one to the other in seconds, and that is where many Chinese sites go wrong. Conversion swaps the characters but keeps the vocabulary, and the vocabulary differs.
Software is 软件 in the mainland and 軟體 in Taiwan. Video is usually 视频 in the mainland and 影片 in Taiwan. Information is 信息 in one and often 資訊 in the other. Hong Kong adds Cantonese expressions that neither the mainland nor Taiwan uses in writing. A Taiwanese reader who meets a converted mainland page knows within a line that it was not written for them, and so do Taiwanese editors.
- One region per page. A mainland page in Simplified Chinese, a Taiwan page in Taiwanese Traditional, a Hong Kong page where the market justifies it.
- Writers from the region. Mainland writers for mainland outlets, Taiwanese writers for Taiwan, Hong Kong writers for Hong Kong.
- Anchors in the reader's words. The same product is searched with different terms in each region, so anchors follow local usage.
The translate button at the top of this page produces Simplified Chinese, the mainland form. Readers in Taipei will notice the difference straight away, for the reasons set out above.
send us your Chinese pages, and we will tell you which region they actually read as written for.

The firewall is part of the link plan
Google, many Western news sites, most major social networks and a long list of foreign services are blocked in mainland China. That reality shapes Chinese link building in ways a translation agency rarely mentions.
- Blocked outlets help Baidu very little. A link on a site that cannot be reached from inside the mainland may help you on Google, but Baidu's crawler and mainland readers may never see it.
- Blocked resources break your own pages. A page that loads Google Fonts, Google Maps, embedded YouTube video or a Google captcha may stall or fail inside the mainland, and a slow page is a weak page on Baidu.
- Hosting matters. Sites hosted in mainland China need an ICP filing with the authorities, and they usually load faster for mainland visitors and Baidu. Foreign-hosted sites can rank, but they start at a disadvantage.
So a mainland plan starts with whether your site works in China at all, and only then turns to links from mainland outlets Baidu can crawl.
ask us to test how your Chinese pages load from inside the mainland before you spend anything on mainland links.

Baidu favours its own platforms and has punished bought links
Baidu's results give a lot of room to Baidu's own properties: its encyclopedia, its question and answer service, its forums and its publishing platform for creators. Much of the conversation on WeChat stays inside the app, where outside search engines see little of it. The open web competes for the space that remains, and Baidu has run its own updates aimed at sites that buy and sell links in bulk.
That rules out the cheap end of the Chinese link market. Mass-produced posts on sites with no readers are exactly what those updates target. What still works on Baidu is what works on Google: articles on real mainland outlets, read by real people, in a subject that fits your business. Baidu also has its own webmaster platform, and a site that is not verified there is harder to diagnose and slower to be found.
if your mainland pages are not appearing on Baidu, we will check verification, indexing and links together and tell you which is holding them back.

Why a translated Chinese page with English links ranks nowhere
It usually goes like this: a strong English site adds Chinese pages, usually one Simplified version for everyone, hosted abroad. Every link pointing at the domain is English. No Chinese site, in any region, mentions the Chinese pages. Baidu sees a slow foreign page with no mainland citations. Google sees a translation that no Taiwanese or Hong Kong publisher has noticed. The Chinese results go to competitors whose pages Chinese sites actually cite.
Backlinks still matter no matter the date. Content, speed and structure count, and in the mainland hosting counts too, but links are still a major indicator that a website should even be looked at, by Baidu, by Google and by the AI search tools in every Chinese market that summarise a few trusted sources. They are not the only factor, but without some really good backlinks a Chinese page will never pop up in search, will not rank and will be drowned out by the competition.
On Google, regional targeting comes from hreflang: zh-CN, zh-TW and zh-HK, or script codes such as zh-Hans and zh-Hant. Baidu pays less attention to hreflang, which is one reason many businesses give their mainland site its own domain, often a .cn, while Taiwan and Hong Kong pages sit on a .com, a .tw or a .hk.
we will count the Chinese links pointing at each regional version of your site and show you where the gaps are.

Chinese outlets that pass real value
We avoid spammy or poor sites that do not relate to what you sell. Get Found has deep relationships with PR outlets in each Chinese market, owners of niche blogs, influencers, and sites with real readership whose links carry value. In each Chinese market that means national and regional news sites, industry and trade media, niche blogs and review sites in technology, beauty, parenting, finance, education and travel, creators who also publish on the open web, and business directories. Every article is written natively, in the region's script and vocabulary, by someone who reads that outlet.

How we build Chinese links with you
We decide the region, script and engine for each page, check that the site works where it needs to, map who ranks and who links to them, agree topics and commission native writers for the right outlets. Working with us directly, as a leading provider of Backlink Building Services, opens up a large network of authors and outlets. We build the profile to hold up under Google updates and hostile competitor tactics, and of Baidu's updates as well.
Chinese readers abroad, in Singapore, Malaysia, North America, Australia and the United Kingdom, get their own outlets where they matter to your sales. For nearby markets, see our Japanese backlinks page, our Korean link building and our links for Malay-language sites, which covers a country with a large Chinese-reading community. The full language and niche service, the budget-first strategy page and the Backlink Building Services index explain the rest. When you are ready, contact us with your Chinese markets.

The questions that come up every time.
Do I need Baidu or Google for Chinese SEO?
It depends on where your readers are. In mainland China, Google is blocked and Baidu is the main search engine, with Bing and several smaller engines alongside it. In Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, Google leads. Many businesses need both, with separate pages and separate link plans, because the outlets and signals each engine rewards are different.
Should I write in Simplified or Traditional Chinese?
Simplified for mainland China, Singapore and Malaysia. Traditional for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, and for many older overseas communities. Taiwan and Hong Kong also differ from each other in vocabulary, and Hong Kong readers are used to Cantonese expressions. Converting a Simplified page with software produces Traditional characters with mainland vocabulary, which local readers notice at once.
Do backlinks still matter for Chinese websites?
Yes, on both engines. They are not the only factor, and Baidu also weighs hosting, speed inside China and its own platforms heavily. But links from relevant Chinese sites remain one of the strongest signs that a page deserves attention, and AI search tools in every Chinese market lean on sources other sites cite. A Chinese page nobody links to is rarely shown or quoted.
Do I need to host my site in China to rank on Baidu?
Not always, but it helps. Hosting inside mainland China requires an ICP filing with the authorities, and sites hosted there usually load faster for mainland users and Baidu's crawler. Many foreign businesses use a separate mainland site or a provider that serves China well. We will tell you plainly what your setup means for Baidu before planning links.
Can links from Taiwan or Hong Kong help a mainland page?
Only a little. They are written for different readers, often in Traditional characters, and some are less reachable from inside the mainland. They are the right links for your Taiwan and Hong Kong pages. A mainland page needs mainland outlets, in Simplified Chinese, that Baidu can crawl.
Who writes the Chinese articles?
Native writers from the region each outlet serves: mainland writers for mainland outlets in Simplified Chinese, Taiwanese writers for Taiwan, Hong Kong writers for Hong Kong. Each writes in the outlet's register. Machine-translated Chinese is easy to spot and good editors reject it, so every article is written to be worth reading without the link.
