No obligation. Tell us what you sell and where, and a person replies.

  • Diacritics done right. Native Vietnamese writers who place every tone mark correctly, because editors and readers check.
  • Vietnamese outlets. National news, regional portals, niche blogs and directories that Vietnamese readers use.
  • At home and abroad. Separate plans for Vietnam and for the Vietnamese diaspora, each pointed at its own pages.

The best way to build "Vietnamese backlinks, but better yet, backlinks for your Vietnamese-language site" is to contact us directly. Vietnamese is written in Latin letters stacked with tone marks, searched on two engines and read in two very different places, Vietnam and its diaspora. Links that rank a Vietnamese site have to get all three of those right.

Vietnam searches on Google, and on Coc Coc

Google is the main search engine in Vietnam. Alongside it sits Coc Coc (Cốc Cốc), a Vietnamese browser with its own search engine, built for Vietnamese and used by a large number of people in the country. Few markets have a homegrown engine that survives next to Google; Vietnam is one of them.

For link building, that changes less than you might think. Both engines read relevance and trust through links from Vietnamese sites to Vietnamese pages. It does mean checking how your site appears on Coc Coc as well as Google, and not assuming a Google ranking report tells the whole story.

AI search adds a third route. AI Overviews, ChatGPT search and Perplexity now answer Vietnamese questions directly and cite a few sources. They lean on sites the web already points at, which brings us back to links.

tell us how your site appears on both engines today, and we will tell you what its link profile is missing.

Why links still matter, whatever the year

Every so often someone announces that links are finished. They are not, no matter the date. Without some really good backlinks your Vietnamese site will never pop up in search, will not rank and will be drowned out by the competition that has them.

Links are not the only factor. Content quality, mobile speed, structure and how well a page answers the search all count, and in a country that browses mostly on phones, speed counts a lot. But a link profile is still a major indicator that a website should even be looked at by search engines or AI search. Google has little reason to trust a Vietnamese page that nothing points at.

Not every link counts the same. A useful Vietnamese link sits inside an article on the outlet's own subject, on a site with real readers, written in Vietnamese and pointing at a Vietnamese page that matches what the article is about. A link buried in a list of unrelated sites, or on a page nobody visits, adds little and can count against you. Telling those two kinds of link apart is most of the work, so we start with the outlet rather than the link count.

Ask us

if your Vietnamese pages are indexed but never rank, ask us whether links are the reason.

Diacritics: on the page, in the anchor, out of the URL

Vietnamese uses the Latin alphabet with a dense layer of diacritics: vowel marks and tone marks, sometimes two on one letter, plus the letter đ. Change a tone mark and you change the word. Copy with missing or wrong diacritics looks careless at best and machine made at worst, and Vietnamese editors will not publish it.

Searchers are less strict. Many type without diacritics ("khong dau") on a phone, and Google and Coc Coc generally match accented and unaccented forms. That leads to four rules:

Where What to do
Page copy and headings Full, correct diacritics, always
Anchor text in Vietnamese articles Accented, as the surrounding article is
URL slugs Stripped of diacritics, so addresses survive being copied and shared
Brand names Written the way you write them yourself, consistently

Slugs deserve a decision up front. An address with raw accented characters turns into percent-encoded strings when shared; most Vietnamese sites strip the marks. Pick one scheme and keep it, because every link you earn points at a fixed URL.

Next step

ask us to review your Vietnamese copy, anchors and slugs before new links go live.

North, south, and a translated page with English links

Standard written Vietnamese follows the north, but everyday vocabulary differs from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City: a bowl is bát in one and chén in the other. A writer who knows your audience chooses accordingly, and our writers write Vietnamese natively.

The bigger mistake is structural. Foreign businesses often translate their site into Vietnamese and point their existing English links at the Vietnamese pages. A translated page with English-only links rarely ranks in Vietnam, because nothing written in Vietnamese vouches for it, while local competitors have Vietnamese outlets pointing at them.

The fix is Vietnamese-language articles on Vietnamese outlets, pointed at the Vietnamese pages, with hreflang vi-VN so Google shows the right version. A .vn or .com.vn domain is a strong country signal; a .com site with a Vietnamese folder works as well when the links point there.

Vietnamese outlets, Vietnamese writers

Spammy Vietnamese sites, and sites unrelated to what you sell, are excluded from the start. We work with Vietnamese press contacts, niche bloggers, influencers and sites with a genuine readership. Vietnamese outlets worth a link come in four kinds:

  • National online news. Vietnam's large news portals and their business, technology and lifestyle sections, for authority and reach.
  • Regional portals. Local news and city sites in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Can Tho and beyond.
  • Niche blogs and reviewers. Technology, food, travel, parenting, beauty and finance writers with their own readers.
  • Directories and associations. Vietnamese business listings and industry bodies that are kept current and still consulted.

The diaspora is its own market

Vietnamese communities abroad are large and well established: in the United States, with Orange County's Little Saigon the best known, in Australia, France, Germany, Canada, and newer communities in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Their media and community sites are relevant links for businesses serving them, from travel and remittance to food, law and property in Vietnam. We plan diaspora links as a separate profile, pointed at pages written for that audience.

How we build Vietnamese links with you

Hire Get Found directly and our Vietnamese writers and outlets work on your campaign, because link building is the service we are known for. We begin a Vietnamese campaign by reading your current profile against the Vietnamese sites outranking you, then a plan for outlets, anchors and regions, then native Vietnamese articles placed on relevant sites. Every article is checked for diacritics before it goes to the outlet.

We aim for a Vietnamese profile that holds up through Google's updates and a competitor's attempts to damage it. We will tell you what was placed and where, but not a ranking date, because nobody honest can.

More detail is on our backlinks building service page, our approach to planning links to your budget and the Backlink Building Services hub. For neighbouring and diaspora markets, see Malay backlinks, links for Philippine sites, French-language backlinks and Japanese backlinks. When you are ready, contact us about your Vietnamese site.

The questions that come up every time.

Do Vietnamese backlinks need diacritics in the anchor text?

Yes, when the article is written in Vietnamese. Editors at Vietnamese outlets publish correctly accented text, and an anchor without tone marks in the middle of an accented article looks wrong. Searchers often type without diacritics, and Google usually connects the two forms, so you do not need unaccented anchors to catch unaccented searches. Your URLs are the exception: slugs are normally stripped of diacritics so they survive being shared.

Is Coc Coc important for link building?

Coc Coc is a Vietnamese browser with its own search engine, and many people in Vietnam use it. It is worth checking how your site appears there. The link work is largely the same: relevant Vietnamese sites linking to your Vietnamese pages are a signal both engines can read. Google remains the main engine in Vietnam, so most planning follows how Google weighs Vietnamese results.

Should my Vietnamese content use northern or southern vocabulary?

It depends on where your buyers are. Standard written Vietnamese follows the north, but everyday words differ: a bowl is bát in Hanoi and chén in Ho Chi Minh City. For a national audience, standard written Vietnamese is safest. For a business rooted in the south, or for the diaspora, which is largely southern in origin, southern vocabulary can read more naturally. Our writers match the audience.

Do links from Vietnamese diaspora sites help me rank in Vietnam?

Less than links from sites in Vietnam, but they are valuable for the right business. Diaspora outlets in the United States, Australia, France and elsewhere are read by Vietnamese communities abroad, and they help pages written for those communities. If you sell both in Vietnam and abroad, we keep the two profiles apart and point each at the pages built for that audience.

Are backlinks still worth building with AI search taking over?

Yes. AI search tools such as AI Overviews, ChatGPT search and Perplexity cite a few sources when they answer, and they favour sites the rest of the web already references. Links from trusted Vietnamese outlets help establish that. Links are not the only factor, and content still has to answer the question, but they remain a major indicator that a site should even be looked at.
